Thomas C. Randall - OPPVA President

Sunday June 6, 2021 is OPP Veterans’ Day.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and membership of the OPP Association, I extend best wishes to all OPP Veterans. Thank you to each and every one of you for your service to the people of the province of Ontario.  You have made personal sacrifices and your families have made sacrifices in the name of service above self. We are very appreciative of the efforts of of our 2,000 plus members of the Ontario Provincial Police Veterans’ Association (OPPVA).

Thank you to OPPVA President Thomas C Randall, the OPPVA Board of Directors and all the members of the OPPVA for always celebrating our OPP Veterans past and present. It is important to note the words of President Randall on this occasion; “The OPP Veterans’ Association remains proud of all the former and retired members of the OPP who have contributed so many years of dedicated service to the citizens of Ontario. The recognition of that service as provided by the OPP Veterans’ Day is sincerely appreciated.”

During this time of the Covid-19 pandemic we will miss gathering in person for the second year in a row. We are hopeful that we can gather and celebrate for 2022. In the interim, please know that we respect and honour our OPP Veterans every day. To those families grieving the loss of an OPP Veteran, we grieve with you. The service of your loved one will never be forgotten.

For our OPPA members, please reach out and connect with our OPP Veterans known to you by phone, online or by email today and any time you get the chance. They are our mentors and their wisdom and insight is invaluable. If you don’t know any OPP Vets, please consider visiting the OPPVA.ca website and learning about the men and women who form the history of the Ontario Provincial Police.

Anyone can also consider purchasing a stone on the Pathway of Memories honouring an OPP member past or present. The deadline for additions to the beautiful marker stone for the 2021 additions to the Pathway of Memories is June 30th.. There are 321 donated stones, with 95 newest added in 2019. The inscriptions on the memory stones donated by members, friends and colleagues reflect expressions of pride, friendships, love and careers, creating lasting memories.
