Record Attendance for OPPA Family Day 2023 at Canada’s Wonderland

  • Date:August 11, 2023
Close to 2000 OPP Association Members and their families enjoyed a fabulous day on Tuesday August 8, 2023 at the annual OPPA Family Day at Canada’s Wonderland.  The annual day was organized by OPPA staff in conjunction with the staff at Wonderland, and included a discounted rate, lunch, exclusive early access to rides and a full day of fun.

Everyone in attendance received a tote bag from the OPPA, and flexible water bottles from the Encompas Mental Health Wellness Program. The OPPA Board of Directors were a big part of the day, as well as the  Encompas team from Dalton Associates and the OPP Healthy Workplace Team.

The weather cooperated despite some early threats of rain, and the overwhelming feedback was positive.

Director Mike Adair was the point person for the OPPA Board of Directors for this event and stated:

“It’s events like this that we get to give back to our membership and their families, allowing members from across the province to reacquaint with colleagues they haven’t seen in a long time while getting a much needed injection of fun mixed with family time. We are happy to facilitate this event to recognize our members and the amazing work they all do each and every day. This year’s attendance was a record turnout. We will definitely be keeping this event on the horizon for the future. A big thank you to the staff at the OPP Association and the staff at Canada’s Wonderland for making this day possible. Special thank you to OPPA Strategic Communications Coordinator Emily Brown who quickly mobilized with Canada’s Wonderland staff to allow discounted tickets to be sold for the event to over 200 members past the deadline once the event capacity was reached.”

The feedback from members was overwhelmingly positive. OPPA Member Dave Smith wrote:

“I would like to thank you for putting on this day. My wife and I saw friends we haven’t seen for a long time because of their transfers. We had a great time on the rides and the lunch was a really nice addition to the day! Thank you also for the refillable water bottles, backpacks and hand sanitizer that were given out at the lunch venue. We really enjoyed our time at Wonderland and look forward to another day of fun and friendship in the future!”

Member Charlie Bouman called in to OPPA Head Office stating how pleased he was with the OPPA Wonderland Family Day saying he decided to try it out for the first time. He said both he and his family (children and grandchildren) were very happy with the day. He added the food was excellent, the day was well organized, and it was a great deal. He feels everyone should take advantage of it.

The OPPA Board of Directors thank all attendees and their families for taking the time to attend the event, and everyone is looking forward to an even bigger and better event next year!
