Every child matters assembly

At 2:15pm Tuesday June 8, 2021 OPP Association members are encouraged to take a personal moment of reflection to honour the 215 Indigenous children whose bodies were discovered on the grounds of the Kamloops Indian Residential School in Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation territory.

OPP Association President Rob Stinson is attending a Moment of Reflection Ceremony at OPP General Headquarters in Orillia that is available for OPP members to watch internally by video link.

The flags at OPP Association are being flown at half staff for 215 hours from May 31st until sunset on June 8th.
In recognition of, and support for, survivors, families and communities, to honour the 215 children, and as a symbol of the OPP’s commitment to reconciliation, the OPP Commissioner has authorized OPP members to wear an orange ribbon until National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, 2021

The OPP Association has been in dialogue with the OPP’s Indigenous Policing Bureau. The following educational links to better understand Truth and Reconciliation and the calls to action were received from the OPP IBP, and are shared for our members awareness and information.
