The First Responders Day Act of 2013, officially established May 1st as First Responders Day in Ontario to honour the dedication of police officers, firefighters, military personnel, paramedics, dispatchers, nurses, doctors, and other essential emergency personnel. 

Thank you to all of our OPPA Members and your families for your service and many sacrifices.

Today, on First Responder Day, we recognize and commend the courage, sacrifice, and silent battles of those who run toward danger when the rest of us run away.

But behind every uniform is a human being.

A friend. A partner. A parent.

Someone who absorbs trauma, heartbreak, and chaos—day after day.
